Although there is a lot of info on the internet about Silvertone players, I have found it hard to date this particular model. I can see advertisements for it, priced from $9.95 all the way up to $19.95 but I have not been able to ascertain the dates of those publications. I would hazard a guess at around 1930. This player works well, and has a decent sound, albeit a bit on the tinny side. The case, as seen in the photo, has seen better days. The marbling of the interior and the unblemished nickel plating have survived very well, and make the little portable very attractive looking. Silvertone was a subsidiary of Sears, Roebuck, and also had a record label.
