RCA 6-J 78 Player (1946)

Bob Bell

Updated: Jan 6, 2024

Made by RCA-Victor just after the war, this simple but elegant tabletop 78-player plugged into an amplifier or more likely, a radio. The control below the tonearm controlled the volume, and by pushing the tonearm to the right, one activated the motor. To turn the motor off, one simply pushed the rear of the tonearm down, which deactivated the motor and at the same time neatly stowed the tonearm.
